Rosemarket
based mixed media contemporary artist Drew Guest holds for
the first time in Pembrokeshire a solo exhibition in
September. The word journey means many different things to
many different people but for this exhibition it tells of
Drew's journey as an emerging artist. From moving from
South Wales to Pembrokeshire, to the North East of England,
and the knowledge of art that he gained there, and moving
back to Pembrokeshire in 2005, every experience in between
has influenced the creation of his art and has brought him
to where he is today. This is his first solo exhibition in
the county that he now considers to be home. Drew's
exhibition is being held at Pembroke Dock Library Gallery,
Water Street, Pembroke Dock from Friday September 1st until,
Saturday September 30th. The mixed media paintings
showcased in the exhibition are a selection of those created
over the past year or so and come from many different series
of paintings, each with it's own distinct theme. They show
different moods, ideas and states of mind, which, though not
always immediately perceived from the art, were essential in
each painting's conception and lie beneath it's painted
surface. Drew's paintings can also be seen in various
galleries, including the Waterfront Gallery in Milford
Haven, The Narberth Gallery, The King Street Gallery in
Carmarthen, and the Blue Ball Restaurant in Tenby.
Exhibitions to date include: The Mayor of Darlington's
annual Ball, The Myles Meehan Gallery, The Town Hall
Gallery, The Dolphin Centre and the Mayors Chamber all in
Darlington, Co Durham, The Small Gallery, Carmarthen,
Milford Haven Town Hall, Milford Haven Library, Bewdley
Gateway Exhibition, Worcestershire, and The Mid Wales Open
Art Exhibition in Ceredigion.

Pupils take part in
abstract art attack
Rosemarket artist Drew
Guest was delighted to help pupils at Mary Immaculate
School, Haverfordwest, just before the school holidays.
Drew, a 28 yr old mixed media painter, spent a week with the
children, arranging different projects for each of the three
years taking part. Based on abstract art, each pupil
painted a small canvas which was then hung together to form
a mural. Drew was helped by art co-ordinator Kelly O'Neill,
teachers Laura Matthews, Sarah Fellows and Sue Roberts.
Drew, whose work can be seen in various galleries throughout
the county, also has several solo exhibitions planned during
the next year.
